Cecile Cassel was born June 25th, 1982, to an already famous family. Her father, Jean-Pierre Cassel, was recognized as a talented actor, and his son Vincent Cassel, later took up the same career path. From a young age, Cecile knew she wanted to become an actress. Determined to make a mark on her own terms, she enrolled in a course for dramatic arts at Compagnie des Sales Gosses. In 2000, aged 18, and having finished the course, she made her first debut on the TV show "Le grand Patron".

Her big screen debut would come in 2002 with "Vivante", alongside Vahina Giocante. Thereafter, she has enrolled projects like "La bande du drugstore", "Jerusalem" or Eric Rohmer's "Les Amours d'Astree et de Celadon" which was chosen by the french cinema focused magazine 'Les Cahiers du cinema' as one of the 10 best pictures of 2007.

Her almost perfect english has allowed her to take part on some american projects such as the very last episode of the famous TV show "Sex and the City" playing the Parisian daughter of Carrie's (Sarah Jessica Parker) Russian love-interest or the 2004 Romance/Drama "Head in the Clouds" alongside Charlize Theron and Penelope Cruz.

Daughter of the late, great french actor Jean-Pierre Cassel.

Sister of Vincent the actor and Mathias the rapper. Sister-in-law of Monica Bellucci.

She appeared in "Sex and the City" as the Parisian daughter of Carry Bradshaw's Russian lover.

Is one of the commentators of the Golden Globes Awards on the French TV.

She wanted to be a dancer and took ballet lessons.

She wants to be in a Broadway musical.

She went to see 'Romeo and Juliet' seven times at the cinema when the film came out.

Her English is near-perfect but it still bothers her that she has an accent.

- "When I was little, I dreamed about being a principal dancer. My idol was Rita Moreno (the heroine of 'West Side Story'. I was fascinated by the stage".

- "It would be difficult to impose yourself on a Broadway director when there's no need for you, when there's already all these amazing trained Broadway actresses".

- "I'm quite a solitary and quiet person, even more since I've been single".

- On romantic films:
"The problem is that you think real life is going to be the same".

- On how she wants to live in NYC:
"One day, I walked into the first shop I saw on Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn and I bought it [a chain off which hangs a little moon]. I said to myself at the time that one day I will come back and live here".

- On her role in 'Sex and the City':
"I was scared that my three days on set would be a disaster in this machine that worked seamlessly for eight years".

- On Sarah Jessica Parker:
"She's the craziest - in a good way - person I ever worked with".

- On "Les amours d'astrée et de Céladon" director, Rohmer:
"I was totally lost. It was like he was directing some Nouvelle-Vague movie as if he was still in his 20s. His lack of stage direction gives you the impression that you're on your own".

- On how she still hasn't had the chance to work with her brother, Vincent:
"Sometimes I'm up for a film Vincent's in and I don't get it. Sometimes he's up for one I'm in and he doesn't get it, or we both are and neither does!".
